Trauma Therapy in New York, Online
Trauma rarely stays in the past. It shows up in how you sleep, how you react, and how close you let people get. I offer trauma therapy by secure video for adults in New York State and clients living outside the USA, in English or Czech.
Whether it was one event or something that went on for years, the aim isn't to "get over it." It's to build enough safety that what happened can be looked at, felt, and put in its place.
How trauma shows up
Some people come to me with memories they can't stop replaying. Others come for something else: trouble sleeping, irritability, or a relationship that keeps going wrong in the same way. Only later do they find trauma underneath.
Common signs include intrusive memories, feeling numb or constantly on guard, avoiding reminders, and difficulty trusting people.
You don't need a diagnosis, or a story that feels "bad enough," to start.
How I work
I start with stability. Before we go near the hardest material, we make sure you have ways to steady yourself and that therapy itself feels safe. From there we work through memories at a pace you can tolerate. Then we turn toward what you want your life to look like now.
I draw on psychodynamic, trauma-focused, cognitive-behavioral and somatically informed approaches, and we adjust as we learn what helps.
Some clients have had, or are considering, psychedelic experiences connected to their trauma. I can help you make sense of those experiences and work with them safely. I don't provide psychedelics.
My background in trauma treatment
I trained in New York at The New School for Social Research, Mount Sinai Beth Israel, Columbia University and Bellevue Hospital, followed by an NIH postdoctoral fellowship at NYU.
I was site co-principal investigator and study therapist on Phase 2 and Phase 3 trials of MDMA-assisted therapy for PTSD, sponsored by Resilient Pharmaceuticals (formerly MAPS PBC and Lykos Therapeutics). That work, and years of training other therapists, shape how I approach trauma today.
Working online
All sessions are by secure video. For many people with trauma, being in their own space makes it easier to open up, and research suggests online therapy can work as well as in-person treatment for PTSD.
We'll pay attention to what helps you feel settled on screen: where you sit, what's around you, and how we begin and end each session.
Getting started
1. Free 30-minute consultation. We talk about what's bringing you in and whether I'm the right fit. You can ask me anything.
2. First sessions. I get to know your history and what you want from therapy, and we agree on a plan together.
3. Ongoing work. Usually weekly, adjusted as you need.
Fees and insurance
I'm in network with Aetna. With other insurance, I can give you a superbill for out-of-network reimbursement.
Otherwise sessions are $200–$400, depending on your circumstances. I'm glad to talk this through in the consultation.
Testimonials
Not sure if this is for you?
If you're unsure whether what you're carrying counts as trauma, that's a good reason for a consultation, not a reason to wait. We can figure it out together.
